AS Roma striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' is set to complete a move to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur on permanent basis, a source close to the player said on Monday.

"A high ranking Tottenham official is traveling to Italy today to complete the move," the source told FilGoal.com early on Monday.

If an agreement is reached, Mido will travel to London to undergo a medical before putting pen to paper.

The summer transfer window closes on Thursday August 31st.

Mido has spent 18 month on-loan at White Hart Lane before returning to Roma during the close season after Spurs boss Martin Jol opted to sign Dimitar Berbatov from Bayer Leverkusen.

However, Tottenham's two defeats in three Premiership games have caused Jol to reconsider signing the Egypt international.

The 23-year-old came on as a second-half substitute in Roma's 4-3 defeat to Inter Milan in the Italian Super Cup on Saturday.

Egypt national team coach Hassan Shehata confirmed in a TV interview on the Egyptian Satellite Channel (ESC) on Sunday night that Mido will return to England.

Mido was scheduled to arrive in Cairo for Egypt's 2008 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Burundi on Saturday.
