Zamalek restored their balance with a 4-1 victory over Tersana in the Egyptian League on Wednesday.

Magdi Atwa and Abdul-Halim Ali scored to put Zamalek two up midway through the first-half before Wael Kamel reduced the gap just before the interval.

Substitutes Mostafa Gaafar and Gamal Hamza poked home after the break to secure the three points and give Zamalek a much-needed victory over their neighbors.

The victory raised Zamalek tally to 10 points from six games in fourth spot while Tersana's account froze to just two points in the 13th.

The Cairo side lost twice and were held once in Cairo, triggering widespread anger between fans.

Zamalek coach Manuel Cajuda stuck to his 3-5-2 formation but made some changes on the starting line-up that was held to a 1-1 draw by Olympic Alexandria over the weekend.

Stopper Amr Al-Safti started for Tunisian defender Yamen Ben Zekri, Alaa Abdul-Ghani and Mohamed Abou-Ella replaced Tamer Abdul-Hamid and Moetazbellah Eno in the heart of the midfield.

Atwa started as an attacking midfielder instead of Hamza while Walid Abdul-Latif was introduced for Gaafar.

Tersana manager Farouk Gaafar left veteran striker Hossam Hassan on the bench but fielded him midway through the first-half after his side went two down.

The hosts had the first chance of the game after just two minutes when Abdul-Rahman Mohie stretched to convert a long pass just inches wide.

Atwa replied quickly with a curling right-footer that missed Tersana's top corner but he kept trying till he opened the score line in the 18th minute.

The former ENPPI midfielder powered his way from the right before cutting inside and curled a low shot that flaw past keeper Mostafa Fathi.

Cajuda made a surprising substation when he took out holding midfielder Abdul-Ghani and threw Hamza into the fray to tighten his grip on the game.

Hamza rewarded his coach in the 25th minute when he slipped a neat pass towards Ali who squeezed a powerful finish past the advancing goalkeeper.

Former Egypt captain Hassan helped Tersana move forward and they managed to pull one back just before the interval through Kamel who eluded Zamalek keeper Mohamed Abdul-Monsef with a long-range volley.

Zamalek started the second period sluggishly, allowing Tersana to launch more than one attack from the right flank but headers from Ahed Abdul-Magid and Khaled Al-Adawi couldn't threat Abdul-Monsef's net.

Instrumental midfielder Atwa limped off the pitch with a foot injury and was replaced by Gaafar who had a positive impact on the game.

He cut ahead of his marker to receive Tarek Al-Sayed's low cross and sent the ball into the roof of the net in the 77th minute.

Captian Hazem Emam took the pitch in the 80th minute, replacing Ali.

Hamza almost stretched the score line deep into the injury time when he went one-on-one with the keeper but his effort hit the post.

But the international striker found the net shortly after, latching on to low through pass from Emam before rounding the keeper and poking into an empty net.
