The international keeper told reporters that the middle finger in his right hand was injured but confirmed that nerves are slightly damaged and that he can move his hand.

Al-Sayed was hit by a glass bottle on Monday night inside the club after he tried to defend team mate Ibrahim Saied from an assault by four club members.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident flared when Saied was harassed by the accused members while entering the club to attend the training.

What began as a verbal spat escalated quickly as one of the four tried to hit Saied with a bottle but Al-Sayed stretched his hand to save the international defender's life.

However, Al-Sayed didn't mention Saied's role when asked by police and stated that he was the initial target of abuse.

The attackers were arrested by the club's security and they were turned in to police authorities. Investigations are believed to be under way.

Al-Sayed said he was shocked that no club official has visited him in hospital or made a call to know how serious his condition was.

The 29-year-old also voiced his disappointment over his team mates' reaction as Saied was the only player to accompany him to hospital.

Former Zamalek players and now Ahli stars Mohamed Sedik and Tarek Al-Saied visited Al-Sayed late on Monday.
