Preview- Revamped Gulf Cup of Nations kicks-off in UAE

UAE capital Abu Dhabi will witness on Wednesday the inauguration of the 18th Gulf Cup of Nations better known as "Khaleeji 18".

Hosts UAE will take on Oman in the opening match of the eight-team tournament followed by the second game in Group A between Kuwait and non-Gulf side Yemen who are being coached by Egyptian Mohsen Saleh.

Group B, which kicks-off tomorrow, includes title holders and Asian Games champions Qatar, Iraq, World Cup qualifiers Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

The tournament is played in a round-robin format in the group stage and the winner of Group A plays the runner-up of Group B and vice versa for a place in the final.
