The national team lost their first two games in Group D against defending champions Spain and Czech Republic respectively.

With this result, Egypt finish the group in third place and will compete for the places between 13th to 24th.

This is Egypt's second successive preliminary round exit from the global showpiece following similar results in Tunisia 2005.
