Greek side PAOK have turned down a luxurious offer from Saudi club Al-Shabab to land Egypt defender Amir Azmi on loan, the player's father said on Monday.

The former Saudi champions set a 500.000 Euros bid to sign Azmi on a six-month loan deal but the Greeks demanded double this fee, former volleyball star Azmi Megahed told FilGoal.com.

Monday's editions from several Saudi papers said that a deal was already reached and that the international defender will feature for Al-Shabab soon.

"Al-Shabab chairman Khaled Al-Baltan called me after PAOK's response and he was very disappointed because they had initially agreed the deal," Megahed said.

Azmi is a regular starter with PAOK, who are placed fourth in the local league table with 26 points.
