The Turkish international midfielder, whose contract expires at the end of the season, said he agreed a three-year deal with the Bavarian giants.

"Whether we're talking about speed, shooting skills or strength in the tackle. I know that I've got what it takes to succeed at the highest level," Altintop told German newspaper Bild.

Altintop admitted he is unhappy at Gelsenkirchen due to lack or regular first-team football as he started just nine Bundesliga matches.

"I’m not a first team regular anymore despite having a good form," the 24-year-old added.

Bayern Munich are likely to use Altintop as a replacement for Bosnian winger Hasan Salihamidzic who signed for Juventus and retired midfielder Sebastian Deisler.
