Egypt start CAN preparation

The Egyptian national team is set to face Ivory Coast in a friendly international in Paris next August, assistant coach Shawki Gharib said on Sunday.

The Egyptian Football Association received a proposal from a sports marketing company for an international friendly against Ivory Coast on August 22nd in Paris.

EFA officials passed on the proposal to national team coach Hassan Shehata.

“Coach Shehata gave his approval and all what is left is for the EFA to agree financial terms with the company, which previously organized the match between Egypt and Spain last year,” Gharib told FilGoal.com on Sunday.

Gharib also spoke about the Egyptian team’s preparations for the 2008 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritania on March 24th.

“We will hold a preparation camp on March 19th,” said Gharib.

"The technical staff is watching both local and Europe-based players and we will announce the squad just before the camp," he added.
