Barcelona managed to overturn their first leg 1-0 home defeat to Real Zaragoza and clinched a 2-1 win in La Romareda to take advantage of the away goals and qualify for the King’s Cup semi-finals.

Two first half goals from Xavi and Andres Iniesta sealed the victory while Gerard Pique scored Zaragoza’s only goal after the interval.

Barca controlled possession in the first half and after 18 minutes midfielder Xavi exchanged passes with Rafael Marquez to open the scoring.

Just seven minutes later Lionel Messi was through on goal and when the Zaragoza keeper Cesar Sanchez came out to block his shot, Iniesta took advantage and hit the empty net with a close range volley in the 25th minute.

Zaragoza marched on searching for a goal in the second half but they found themselves reduced to ten men after Andres D'Alessandro was shown red in the 69th minute for head-butting Messi, who made the most of it.

However, the 10 men pulled one back just three minutes later when defender Pique flicked home Pablo Aimar's free kick to make it 2-1.

Barcelona were threatened by two efforts from Carlos Diogo and Ewerthon but they managed to hold on to the end and book their semi-finals place.

Elsewhere, the Sevilla and Betis match lasted for just 12 minutes before Sevilla manager Juande Ramos was struck with a bottle thrown from the opposition crowd following Freddie Kanoute's early goal.

Ramos, who lost consciousness, was hospitalized and the match was called off.

Getafe and Deportivo will join Barca to the semi-finals after beating Osasuna and Valladolid respectively.

Getafe beat Osasuna 3-0 to get a 3-1 aggregate score line and Deportivo's 1-1 draw with Valladolid meant a 5-2 aggregate victory.
