The England striker suffered a gashed knee and was taken off during United's 1-0 win at Liverpool on Saturday following a challenge from Jamie Carragher.

A scan was performed on Sunday to determine the extent of the injury and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed Rooney's availability.

"Wayne will be okay for Wednesday," Ferguson told United’s official website on Tuesday.

"We have a couple of doubts for the match but Wayne is not one of them."

The 21-year-old is likely to partner Louis Saha upfront.

United won the first-leg in Lens 1-0, courtesy of Ryan Giggs' controversial free kick.
