Valencia secured passage to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after holding Inter Milan to a goalless home draw in a heated clash on Tuesday.

The Spanish side progressed with the away-goal rule after grabbing a 2-2 draw at San Siro.

Both sides failed to create enough chances to open the score line as tempers flared just before the final whistle.

Valencia’s defender Carlos Marchena was involved in a brawl with Inter’s Nicolas Burdisso in an ugly scene late in the game.

Players and staff members from both sides intervened amid unsuccessful attempts from managers Quique Flores and Roberto Mancini to calm them down.
