Brazilian coach Marcos Paqueta has been sacked by the Saudi Football Federation (SAFF) on Friday, to be replaced by fellow countryman Helio Dos Anjos.

Paqueta took over from Argentine manager Gabriel Calderon in 2005, despite the fact that the latter led the Saudis to the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Saudi Arabia suffered a disappointing first round exit from the World Cup under Paqueta, finishing bottom of a group that included Spain, Ukraine and Tunisia.

SAFF has been recently searching for a new manager and German coach Theo Bucker of Al-Wehda was mentioned as a frontrunner, However, Dos Anjos was appointed to take charge of the Falcons.

Dos Anjos, who resigned from Brazilian side Nautica last month, will be preparing his new squad for the Asian Nations Cup which will be hosted jointly by Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia this summer.
