England striker Wayne Rooney has allegedly been involved in a dressing room bust-up with manager Steve McClaren following the disappointing goalless draw against Israel in the Euro 2008 qualifiers on Saturday.

Reports suggested that the England coach was furious with his players after the game and that he blasted Rooney for failing to score during the game.

The Manchester United striker did not welcome McClaren's criticism and reportedly stormed out of the locker room after swinging his boots in rage.

Rooney had a nervous game which saw him booked for a confrontation with Israel defender Tal Ben Haim.

England found the target only once in their last five games, and the misfiring Rooney is yet to score a competitive goal for the national team since Euro 2004.

However, the under-fire coach insists that the players are on his side and that the incident with Rooney was far from the truth.

McClaren said that his players needed a bit of luck to translate their efforts into goals.

"I am absolutely 100% convinced the players are still playing for me," McClaren told a press conference on Monday.

"I feel as though the effort is there but they are not happy because they are not winning and not scoring goals."

England captain John Terry revealed McClaren's fury after the game when he claimed that the England coach 'had his rant and rave on the players'.

McClaren's side will face Andorra at the Nou Camp in Barcelona on Wednesday.
