The 30-year-old guardian tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee in Zamalek’s Arab Champions League (ACL) semi-final game against Faisali of Jordan on Tuesday.
He underwent a successful knee injury on Thursday and started his rehabilitation program the following day but will be out of action for an estimated four-month period.
Zamalek are battling in the ACL to claim their first piece of silverware since winning the Egyptian League title in the 2003/2004 season and Al-Sayed is unhappy to miss the rest of the campaign.
"I wish I could have been ready to participate with Zamalek and help them clinch the Arab title this season," Al-Sayed told FilGoal.com on Friday.
"I'm capable of overcoming the injuries difficulties just like what I did last season," he added, referring to the injury he sustained in the same knee that ruled him out of almost the entire second half of the previous campaign.
"Hopefully, Zamalek fans will support (stand-in goalie) Mohamed Abdul-Monsef and the team in general in these decisive days."
The Egypt international keeper reiterated his desire to continue playing football, refuting rumors indicating that he considers hanging up his boots due to the succession of injuries he suffered.
