Abdul-Aziz is confident

Trabzonspor Egyptian midfielder Ayman Abdul-Aziz expressed his delight with his team's significant progress in the second half of the Turkish Super Lig.

"I am very happy with what I have achieved with Trabzonspor so far, when the first half of the season closed the club was in 14th position, four places up from bottom, but now we are 5th just two points behind Kayseri at the 4th spot," Abdul-Aziz told Filgoal.com.

Abdul-Aziz joined Trabzonspor in the winter transfer window from Genclerbirligi and the 28-year-old midfielder helped the club to a ponderous progress of 9 places in the league standings as well as reaching the Turkish cup semis.

Trabzon collected 19 points from 17 games in the season's first half, but things have changed later on as they amassed 20 points from just 10 games, pushing for a UEFA Cup spot.

"To be honest, it is unfair to say that I individually inspired the club to such an improvement, it's an overall team effort, but may be I brought some fortune to the team."

Trabzon have a fine chance to reach the UEFA Cup next season if they advance to the Turkish cup final, as their opponents in the final have already booked a UEFA Cup spot.

"We are targeting the 4th place in order to play in the UEFA Cup, we also have another option in case we reach the cup final because we should meet either Besiktas or Fenerbahce who have already assured European appearances," he added.

Trabzon will host Kayseri in the Turkish cup semi-final on April 11th while the second away leg will be on the 25th.
