Milan veteran defender Alessandro Costacurta is set to take over a coaching role at San Siro, immediately after ending his playing career at the end of the season, the club said on Monday.

The club's vice-president Adriano Galliani confirmed that the 41-year-old Costacurta will join Mauro Tassotti as second assistant to head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

"On Carlo's suggestion, Costacurta will become a trainer alongside Tassotti," Galliani told Milan's official website.

Costacurta had a notable experience with the Italian national team, as he also partnered Tassotti at the heart of the Azzurri defense, in the squad that finished second to Brazil in the 1994 World Cup USA.

Galliani also hinted that former Brazil winger, Leonardo, will be rejoining the coaching staff next season.

"From July 1 Leonardo will be back in the management team," Galliani added.
