Chievo's joy in Serie A lasted for six years

Chievo Verona joined Ascoli and Messina in the Serie B after suffering a 2-0 away defeat to Catania on Sunday.

Fausto Rossini opened the score line six minutes past the hour mark before Matteo Minelli ensured the victory ten minutes from time.

Siena secured a late 2-1 victory over Lazio while Parma and Reggina, who were candidates to be relegated, also grabbed wins over Empoli and AC Milan respectively to send Chievo to Serie B after a six-year spell in the top flight.

Italian champions Inter Milan concluded their impressive campaign with a crushing 3-0 victory over Torino at San Siro.

Defender Marco Materazzi put the hosts ahead in the 13th minute from the penalty spot and Brazilian full-back Maicon doubled the lead on the hour mark.

Portuguese winger Luis Figo, who has reportedly agreed on a switch to Saudi Arabia giants Ittihad Jeddah, completed the rout shortly after with another spot kick.
