The new deal's details were not revealed but a Zamalek source told FilGoal.com that Gaafar will be among the highest earners in the club.

The player's previous contract was due to expire in 2009 but he opted to extend his stay with Zamalek despite continuous speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

Gaafar has recently expressed his frustration at lack of first-team opportunities, demanded a pay rise and was unhappy with the board's treatment.

The 26-year-believed chairman Mamdouh Abbas and the rest of board members wanted to release him because former president Mortada Mansour was the one who brought him to the club.

However, it seems now that Gaafar, who joined Zamalek in 2005 from Mahalla-based club Al-Baladeya, is content to remain with the men in white.
