Mido revealed earlier this week to FilGoal.com that he is set to join Birmingham on a season-long loan, with an option of making the deal permanent if the Blues survive in the Premiership.

However, Birmingham have confirmed on their official website that the 24-year-old hitman is expected to join Steve Bruce's side on a permanent basis.

The deal is subject to Mido agreeing personal terms with Birmingham and passing a routine medical.

The former Ajax Amsterdam, Marseille and AS Roma now have the chance to demonstrate his abilities at St Andrews and regain his place in Egypt national team.

Mido has been snubbed by Egypt boss Hassan Shehata in the past few months after failing to establish himself as a first-team regular with Tottenham, especially after the arrival of Bulgaria's Dimitar Berbatov.

Hamburg's new signing Mohamed Zidan and Zamalek striker Amr Zaki were preferred upfront during the 2008 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Mido's compatriot Hossam Ghaly could be also joining Birmingham within the coming few days.
