Ahli coach Manuel Jose said he is not worried about his side's CAF Champions League prospects following the 1-0 away defeat to Esperance on Saturday.

The Tunisian club handed the Red Devils their first African defeat in 10 months at Rades stadium, thanks to Salama Kasraoui's strike seven minutes before halftime.

The loss may be an alert to the unstoppable Ahli, who are aiming to win an unprecedented third successive Champions League title.

However, Portuguese boss Jose sees nothing strange in Ahli being beaten by Esperance.

"Any team in the world suffers defeats, it is normal," Jose told the post-match press conference.

"Last season we lost against Sfaxien in the group stage but went on and won the title. I hope the players can learn from their mistakes.

"This defeat also sends a warning note to all people who believed we would win the tournament without facing any difficulties," he added.

Jose took a swipe at the match's referee, claiming that he did not protect Ahli players.

"Although Esperance deserved the victory, the referee made many decisions against us. It is clear that someone is trying to put obstacles in our path to glory but we won't let them do so."

On the other hand, Esperance coach Arbi Zouaoui said he is delighted Esperance have revived their chances of reaching the competition's semis.

"It is a morale-boosting victory to my players following the past difficult period," he said.
