Egypt veteran coach Mahmoud Al-Gohari has been appointed as the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) technical director, said the EFA on Sunday.

"We have a deal now and a press conference will be held on Thursday to announce all the details," said the president of the EFA, Samir Zaher, to FilGoal.com.

"Gohari will have a specific mission and that will be planning for the future of Egyptian soccer and precisely the National teams."

The 70-year-old tactician had just quit his job as Jordan boss after making a huge impact there.

Zaher hopes Gohari could put the football in the country back on track especially after the disastrous results of all the national teams.

Mahmoud Al-Gohari is Egypt's most successful and respectable coach as he led the Pharaohs to the World Cup finals in 1990 and won the African Nations Cup in 1998.
