Ahmed Hassan confirmed Sunderland interest but said he would only accept the move if the Premiership side are willing to offer him a one-year deal.

FilGoal.com revealed on Friday that Sunderland manager Roy Keane inquired about Hassan’s desire to play in England through Egypt striker Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’, who

is currently in talks with the newly-promoted club.

But the Egypt captain, who plays for Anderlecht, said that he can make the move for only one season.

“I appreciate Keane’s interest but I have already decided that this is my last season in Europe,” Hassan told FilGoal.com on Saturday.

“If he is willing to give me a one-season deal, then I would be happy to fulfill my dream and play in England,” the 32-year-old midfielder added.

Hassan was on the brink of joining Zamalek in the summer but the move collapsed after the Belgium champions refused to let him go. His contract runs out in June.

Sunderland have reportedly set a €three-million bid to acquire Hassan’s services.

Hassan is one of most successful Egyptian players of all time. He is on an 11-year spell in Europe where he played in Turkey and Belgium.

Hassan also helped Egypt win two African titles.
