Ahli team doctor Ehab Ali stated that the Egypt midfielder suffered a sprained ankle after being harshly challenged by a Sudanese defender.

Ali stressed that the injury is unlikely to be serious and that further scans will be undergone after the Ahli squad returns from Sudan.

The talented playmaker is ruled out of Ahli's crucial Champions League clash against Ivory Coast's ASEC Mimosas on September 2nd.

Abou-Treika will also miss Egypt's friendly against the Ivorians on Wednesday in France.
