LA Galaxy star David Beckham will be rested for the team's MLS clash against Colorado Rapids on Sunday as he is suffering a sore ankle.

The 32-year old midfielder played three games in six days, including full 90 minutes in England's 2-1 defeat against Germany on Wednesday.

Consequently, Beckham will be ruled out of the Colorado game as he still feels an ankle injury he sustained against Estonia in a Euro 2008 qualifier in June.

"While it's regrettable that he will not get the opportunity to play in Colorado this season, we have to focus on healing David's injury," Galaxy chairman and general manager Alexi Lalas said in a statement on Friday.

"He will rest this weekend in LA while preparing for our SuperLiga final match on Wednesday."

Lalas is hoping that his $32.5million recruit will be fit when Galaxy host Mexican champions Pachuca in the SuperLiga final in California on Wednesday.

The former Real Madrid winger has been struggling with his ankle problem since joining Galaxy this summer, and he is still far beyond the LA fans' expectations.

"I'd love to be on the pitch with my team this Sunday but our training staff has advised me that it would be detrimental to not only my health for this game but for the rest of the season," Beckham said.

Meanwhile, MLS side FC Dallas have signed Brazilian winger Denilson from Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr, but terms of the deal were not announced.
