Saha grabbed the winner

Louis Saha came off the bench to score the winner as Manchester United secured a hard-fought 1-0 home victory over Sunderland in the Premiership on Saturday.

The French striker notched the winner in the 71st minute to foil Roy Keane's return to Old Trafford.

The former United legend was given a warm reception by the home fans despite coming this time as an opponent, guiding the newly-promoted Sunderland.

United players gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a guard of honor after the Norwegian striker announced his retirement from professional football.

The title holders lie sixth in the Premiership table with eight points, two adrift of leaders Liverpool who have one match in hand while Sunderland are 17th on four points.

The Red Devils were frustrated in their attempts to break Sunderland's tight defense and rarely threatened the visitors' net.

They tried long-range shots through Carlos Tevez, Chris Eagles and Paul Scholes but their efforts didn't bother Black Cats keeper Craig Gordon.

However, Saha finally broke the deadlock when he cut ahead of Gordon to head home Nani's corner and seal the victory for United.
