Guti appreciates the work done by Fabio Capello to end Real's title drought, but feels freer under the management of German tactician Bernd Schuster.

"Fabio spearheaded an important turnaround for Madrid after three very difficult years," the Spanish international midfielder told AS

"There was a serious title drought and he won the League with a short-handed squad."

Although Capello guided Los Merengues to their first Primera Liga title in four years, he was sacked by the club's board for failure to display attractive football.

Former Getafe boss Schuster was appointed and his attacking approach saw Real beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 and thump Villarreal 5-0 in the first two matches of the league.

"Bernd coaches the same way he played, I feel freer and more confident. We're all on his side. He's granted more freedom on offense. We were very conservative last year," he said.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old believes Barcelona are not guaranteed success even with the host of starts they have.

"We already saw it here. Having great players is fantastic, but it can come back to haunt you. We should take advantage while we can," he said.

"It's a mirror image of Madrid's Galactic era. Barca will have issues if there's no discipline. It's all up to (coach Frank) Rijkaard."
