Ahmed Hassan was delighted to score a brace while fasting in Anderlecht's 2-2 draw with Zolte Waregem in the Belgian League game on Saturday.
"Thanks God I have scored those two goals, it’s a great feeling to score while fasting and I think I played one of my best games," Hassan told FilGoal.com.
"I even scored a third, but it was ruled out for offside, although I believe the goal should have been given."
The Egypt playmaker insisted on fasting despite being subjected to media speculation questioning his ability to perform normally.
"My decision to fast on matchday during the month of Ramadan is final, the coach totally understands the situation and the board also respect my decision," added the 32-year-old.
Hassan is currently Anderlecht's top marksman with three league goals, as the Purple and White occupy second place one point behind leaders Standard Liege.
