Thierry Henry scored his first goal for Barcelona as the Spanish giants romped to a 3-0 home win over Lyon in the UEFA Champions League group stage opener on Wednesday.

Lyon right-back Clerc gifted Barcelona the opener in the 21st minute after converting Lionel Messi's low cross into his own net instead of clearing it.

The hosts then dominated the encounter and produced an entertaining display with some silky passes against a helpless Lyon.

Argentinean prodigy Messi doubled the lead eight minutes from time, successfully concluding superb series of passes.

Deco cut inside from the left and released Andres Iniesta in the area before the Spanish midfielder cut back for Messi, who drilled a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Henry, who arrived from Arsenal in the close season, opened his account for the Catalans one minute into stoppage time.

He tapped into an empty net; capitalizing on a rebound after Giovani Dos Santos' initial shot was blocked by Lyon keeper Remy Vercoutre.

In the other Group E game, Scottish giants Rangers came from behind to earn a 2-1 home win over Germany's Stuttgart.

Mario Gomez stunned the home crowd in the 56th minute but was cancelled out by Charles Adam's strike two minutes past the hour mark.

Jean-Calude Darcheville's penalty 13 minutes later secured the precious victory for Rangers.
