Zamalek assistant coach Moatamed Gamal has hit back at the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) describing their decision of imposing a three-match ban on Shikabala as "exaggerated".

"They should have considered the huge pressure put on the player especially that he was subjected to a barrage of insults and any person could have cracked in front of those racist chants," Gamal was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"The decision is exaggerated and I expected the EFA to hit hard on the crowd who was at the origin of that situation. This is something new in Egypt and we should go tough on it."

Shikabala was caught on TV with his shoe aloft against Ahli fans after the game what earning him a mandatory three- game suspension.

This is while Ahli and Zamalek have been handed the sanction of playing a match behind closed-doors, each.
