AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini hit out at the verdict which was imposed by UEFA against goalkeeper Nelson Dida after the incidents of last week's Champions League 2-1 defeat at Celtic.

The Brazilian goalie was suspended for two games for playacting after he was slightly hit by a Celtic fan, following Scott McDonalds' injury time strike for the home side.

"I don't understand this difference in treatment. More than 10 years ago because of a small bottle on a goalkeeper, they suspended our pitch for two matchdays," Maldini told Milan's official web site.

"Dida made a mistake, but I repeat, I don't understand the disparity of treatment."

Apart from his frustration by the suspension of his teammate, the Milan legend is happy to return to action in a Friday friendly against Athletic Bilbao after more than four months out.

"After four months I have the possibility of playing. I'm happy also because I was able to have an adequate preparation," he said.
