German coach Thomas Schaaf has penned a two-year contract extension with Werder Bremen, the Bundesliga club announced on Friday.

Schaaf, who has never managed any club in his coaching career apart from Bremen, will stay at the club until 2010.

The 46-year-old coach is highly motivated to continue his adventure with the four-time German champions.

"We still have a number of things we wish to achieve here," he was quoted as saying by Bremen's official website.

"Despite the always increasing pressure from the competition we want to remain in a leading position in the league and maintain a constant involvement in the Champions League.

"It’s important to me that we reward out performances with trophies. We want to be in the running for the league title and the DFB Cup every time," he added.
