Rosenborg players celebrate the precious win

Rosenborg sprung a Champions League surprise on Wednesday after beating Valencia 2-0 in Norway.

Yssouf Kone broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute thanks to a hash from veteran goalkeeper Santiago Canizares, who tried to block a weak shot with his foot but failed to allow the first goal.

Vidar Riseth sealed the shocking win one minute after the hour mark when he rose over his marker to head past the shaken Canizares.

Valencia tried to get back into the game but, in the absence of top scorer David Villa, they couldn't find the net.

Rosenborg climbed to second spot in Group B with four points, one adrift of leaders Chelsea, who eased past Schalke 2-0 in London.

France winger Florent Malouda fired a close-range bullet that went in between the legs of Schalke's keeper as early as the fourth minute.

Didier Drogba dived to head home two minutes into the second half and sent flying kisses to Chelsea fans in what looked as apology over his severe attack on the club recently.

Schalke have three points in third place, leading Valencia on goal difference.
