Frank Ribery and Philip Lahm lost their fitness battle as Bayern Munich could barely concede a goalless away draw against Dortmund, on Sunday, to cut their lead on top of the table to only four points.

The Bavarian side registered a strong start and pushed the home side to get back in defense.

They went close twice as Martin Demichelis' 30-yard drive went off the crossbar and Miroslav Klose hit the post in the 36th minute to keep the score level.

The hosts' respond came late as the first threat on Michael Rensing's goal was in the 57th minute when Mladen Petric blasted the ball wide while he was a few yards from the goal line.

Michael Rensing was later forced to some heroic saves on Jacub Blaszczykowski, Delron Buckley and Tinga's efforts to register the first scoreless draw between both sides since august 1970.

The result leaves Bayern on top of the Bundesliga table with 27 points four ahead of Hamburg who snatched a 1-0 away victory against Duisburg.

New summer signing Vincent Kompany hit the winner in the 37th minute. Mohamed Zidan was among the starting lineup and was replaced in the 73rd minute.
