Hamburg SV are willing to reinforce thir frontline, which includes Egypt striker Mohamed Zidan, by signing 17-year-old Nigerian striker Macauley Chrisantus.

The player's agent confirmed that HSV won the race to sign the highly-rated striker on an undisclosed fee from Abuja FC.

"After considering all the offers we have for Chrisantus, Hamburg emerged as the best place for him to develop into a world class player," the player's agent Adam Mohamed told BBC Sport on Tuesday.

"Hamburg are one of the top clubs in Europe and they are currently doing well in league and on continental level too as well.

"We signed the deal late last night after we took everything into consideration."

Chrisantus led the Super Eaglets to the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup triumph, finishing top scorer with seven goals in seven games.

The 17-year-old has been targeted by several high-profile European clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Ajax, but he preferred the Bundesliga option.

Egyptian striker Zidan is already struggling to find a place in the starting eleven, and Chrisantus' signing is likely to add more rivalry upfront.
