"I think I was a little too aggressive last year. I did some things that weren't so clever," the Dutchman international said on the German League's official website.

Van Bommel, who joined last season from Barcelona, was handed 10 yellow cards in his first campaign with Bayern.

This season, he was cautioned once in 14 encounters.

"You realize you still can learn something when you're 30", he added.

The former PSV captain won the hearts of the Bavarian supporters, who voted him Bayern's Player of the Year earlier in 2007.

He plays a vital role in Bayern's campaign towards the Bundesliga title this season.
