"Carvalho is a player that our scouts have been tracking forever. He is an important figure for the future," Paolillo was quoted as saying by Calcio Italia.

The Brazilian international will join the Serie A champions for free as his contract with the Russian giants runs out in the summer.

According to Calcio Italia, Carvalho will put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal with Inter.

It is believed the 24-year-old will replace Portuguese midfielder Luis Figo, who will most probably announce his retirement at the end of the season.

Carvalho caught the eyes with some dazzling displays with CSKA. He heavily contributed to the team's 2005 UEFA Cup triumph at the expense of Sporting Lisbon.
