Egypt start CAN 2008 preparations

Egypt finished the year of 2007 in 39th place in the monthly FIFA Ranking for national teams, as Argentina remained on top.

The Pharaohs, who clinched the gold medal of last month's Pan Arab Games' football competition, jumped two spots to level with Morocco on 686 points.

Egypt and Morocco lead the list of Arab teams by the end of the year, while the North African rivals are sixth in continental standings.

The top 20 featured no changes to last month's rank, with Argentina, Brazil and Italy leading the race.

The best move throughout the year came from Mozambique, who jumped 53 places to lie 75th.
