Valencia manager Ronald Koeman has vowed to change things at Mestalla, hinting that veterans Santiago Canizares and David Albelda could be shown the door.

The Spanish duo were left out by Koeman for the Copa del Rey tie with Real Union on Wednesday, and the Dutchman did not rule out their absence in the future.

"I have explained it to them because they aren't youngsters. This decision is, in principle, for the next two games and for the future it isn't possible to say as it is a matter for the club as well," Koeman told a news conference.

"Valencia is a ship and those who don't want to be on board, will be out. To take these types of strong decisions I need the support of the president, and he agrees with me. It is for the good of Valencia.

"I want to change things and to give other players opportunities.

"One good result could change things. I am convinced it is going to happen and hopefully it will be tomorrow."

Los Ches suffered a string of embarrassing results this season, including a 5-1 home defeat to Real Madrid in October and a 3-0 defeat from Barcelona at Mestalla last weekend.

Spanish daily Marca also reported on Tuesday that 38-year-old keeper Canizares and 30-year-old midfielder Albelda are likely to be axed by the former Barcelona captain.
