Adebayor had an impressive year

Arsenal and Manchester United maintained their sizzling top of the table warfare by securing Premiership victories at Fulham and Reading respectively.

Arsenal outclassed Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage as Emmanuel Adebayor scored two first half headers to inspire the Gunners to a comfortable win.

Tomas Rosicky made it three ten minutes from time with a close-range finish, following good work from Eduardo da Silva.

At the Madjeski, champions United scored two late goals to secure a 2-0 win over Reading, courtesy of goals from Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Arsenal and United remain tied at 54 points from 23 games, with third-placed Chelsea also in contention after a 1-0 victory at Birmingham City.

The Blues needed a 79th minute winner from Claudio Pizarro to overcome the resilient Birmingham, who grabbed a deserved 1-1 draw at Arsenal last weekend.

Pizarro headed in Juliano Belletti's corner to score only his second of the season for the London club, as his first came also against Birmingham in the 3-2 opening day victory.

Chelsea keep their position in third place with 50 points, 11 points clear of Liverpool, Everton, Aston Villa and Manchester City, who all share fourth place.
