Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has heaped praise on Egypt defender Ahmed Abou-Mosallam, who is currently on trial with the Championship side.

Warnock, who brought Ahmed Fathi to Sheffield United last year during his spell as Blades manager, sounded his admiration to the talents of Egyptian players in general.

"He has been in and done quite well and is a bright lad," Warnock told reporters about Abou-Mosallam, who did well in a friendly last week.

"I had a player called Fathi up at Sheffield United. They are really very alert players, the Egyptians, and technically very good."

Abou-Mosallam is likely to leave Strasbourg in the near future after he lost his place with the Ligue1 side.

However, Warnock still has some work to do in order to acquire the former Ahli full-back to Selhurst Park.

"I've spoken to his man to talk about the possibilities, because there aren't many good left sided players at the minute, but he is a possibility," he said.

"Obviously Strasbourg will want a transfer fee for him, but we will look into that."
