Hassan: Proud of record
Ahmed Hassan said he was proud of breaking the Egyptian record for the African Cup of Nations appearances.
Captain Hassan came off the bench in the 57th minute to make his 22nd appearance in the competition.
Hossam Hassan held the previous record with 21 games. Hany Ramzy and Nader Al-Sayed come third and fourth with 20 games each.
"I'm very happy to have achieved such a record," Hassan told FilGoal.com on Sunday.
"I hope it will motivate me produce better displays for Egypt in their quest to win CAN for the second successive year."
The Anderlecht midfielder is delighted to have stamped his mark in Egypt's history, but believes the Pharaohs' victories are more important than any personal glories.
"The highest aim for all players is to lead Egypt to more triumphs in Africa," he added.
