Egyptian FA chairman Samir Zaher believes the 2008 African Cup of Nations triumph in Ghana is enough proof that Egyptian football is moving towards the right direction.

"The victory proves that we are working efficiently and that Egyptian football is in continuous progress," he told FilGoal.com on Monday.

"This competition has been regarded by many as the strongest of all time, but we proved that our 2006 victory was no fluke.

"Many people have accused the FA of being focused on economical progress at the expense of football, but I think we proved them wrong."

Zaher has been FA president in Egypt's 2006 triumph on home soil, as well as the CAN 1998 victory in Burkina Faso.
