Abdul-Monsef targets cup triumph

Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Abdul-Monsef dreams of winning the Egyptian Cup after penning a three-year contract extension with the Cairo giants.

"I’m eager to help my teammates lift the Egyptian Cup to dedicate it to our fans," Abdul-Monsef told a press conference on Saturday.

"Those fans have been waiting a very long time to have something to cheer about."

Zamalek haven’t won a single title since their Egyptian League triumph in the 2003/2004 season.

Abdul-Monsef has ended uncertainty surrounding his future after extending his deal with Zamalek on Friday.

"I extended the contract without setting any conditions. I did not hesitate to agreeing the new deal because I love this club so much," he said.

"The extension will motivate me do better in the upcoming period to help Zamalek challenge for honors."

The 31-year-old guardian joined Zamalek from Dina Farms in 1999. He won with the club three league titles and one Champions League.
