Bilbao goalie Armando was taking a goal-kick when a Betis fan sitting behind the goal hit him in the head with a plastic bottle full of liquid.

Armando suffered bruises and cuts near the right eye and had stitches.

The referee abandoned the match with 18 minutes left and Bilbao leading 2-1.

According to Bilbao website, Armando will undergo further tests on his eye on Sunday.

Real Betis said the fan was detained by security forces and will be banned from attending any future sports events.
