Zamalek have announced on Friday the signing of ES Setif's Ivorian midfielder Geoffrey Serey Die on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

"We have finalized a deal for Serey Die," Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas told Modern Sport.

"The player will earn $420,000 during his three-year stay with the club."

When asked about whether Zamalek target Serey Die's compatriot Remi Adico, Abbas responded cautiously.

"We are yet to decide whether to sign another foreigner or not, because we will have three foreigners in our squad next season."

The Cairo giants' current squad includes Tunisian defender Wissem Al-Abdi and Jordanian left-back Khaled Saad.

Egyptian FA regulations allow every club to register just three foreigners in its local squad.

Zamalek have lacked the presence of a powerful defensive midfielder over the past few years.

They will be hoping to strengthen their squad in order to compete for the Egyptian League title next season.

Zamalek last won the local premier competition in the 2003/2004 season. They have been outplayed by arch-rivals Ahli during the last three seasons.
