Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri hit out at the referee of his team's match against Baladeya in the Egyptian League on Monday.

Al-Badri stated his astonishment from the referee who denied Ahli a penalty in the dying seconds of the goalless match when Baladeya defender Yehia Abou-Sheasha handled a Gilberto corner in the area.

"I understand that referees are human and can make mistakes because the situation on the field can be unclear sometimes," Al-Badri told a press conference.

"But in this case, we were sitting on the substitutes bench and saw what happened, so how come the referee missed when he was so close," wondered the Ahli spokesman.

The draw did not affect Ahli's chances in settling the title race as they only needed one point, but that single point did miracles for Baladeya who are in 15th place and fighting to stay in the top flight next season.

On the other hand, Al-Badri once again praised stand-in goalkeeper Ahmed Abdul-Monem for his form against Baladeya.

The 21-year-old started his second league match as first choice keeper Amir Abdul-Hamid is recovering from an injury.

Al-Badri said that the club will be forced to take youth team keeper Mohamed Al-Shinawi to South Africa where Ahli will face Platinum Stars in the first-leg of the CAF Champions League round of 16 next week.

"Even though Al-Shinawi isn't registered in our African squad, his presence will be needed to prepare Abdul-Monem, in case first choice keeper Abdul-Hamid doesn't recover in time," he added.
