Lierse's Egyptian full-back Omar Yassine admitted his side are unlikely to advance to the Belgian first division after a 2-2 draw with Verbroedering Geel.

"We lost two precious points in our campaign," the former Ahli youth told FilGoal.com on Thursday.

"We were leading 2-1 until our opponents scored in the dying seconds to claim the equalizer, which heavily dented our hopes to seal promotion to the first division."

Lierse, whose squad boasts two other Egyptians in Ahmed Samir and Mohamed Abdul-Wahed, lie sixth in the table with 50 points, five behind fifth-placed Royal Antwerp.

They need to finish fifth if they are to have any chance of advancing to the first division.

"We need a miracle to achieve our goal. We have to win our remaining two matches and hope that Antwerp stumble against Tournai," Yassine added.

Places from 2 to 5 take part in a play-off, which determines the additional two teams who will accompany the second division champion to the top flight.
