Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld was left delighted with his season achievement at Allianz Arena, after the Bavarians secured a 21st Bundesliga title on Sunday.

The goalless draw at Wolfsburg meant that Bayern have clinched the German double under the veteran coach, who also led them to the feat in 2001.

Hitzfeld, who will take charge of Switzerland after Euro 2008, was glad to be handling a top class team to next coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

"It’s been a unique season, because expectations were so high. The club spent heavily, so the pressure was immense, but winning the league makes it all worthwhile," he said.

"I’m delighted for the club, because we’re back to where we belong as number one in Germany.

"And I’m also pleased I’ll be handing Jurgen Klinsmann a great team. This team is capable of mixing it right at the top again next season."

Party Time

Italian goal machine Luca Toni was thrilled with his first ever league trophy, which he believes made up for the team's recent UEFA Cup exit.

"We’re champions, and I’m overjoyed. After the disappointment in the UEFA Cup, it’s party time now. I’m going to enjoy it," said the 2006 World Cup winner.

Toni has been in dazzling form with Bayern since arriving last summer, as he leads the Bundesliga scoring charts with 21 goals.
