Moawad to join Ahli?

Sayed Moawad looks to be on his way to Ahli despite asserting on Saturday that he has signed a three-year deal with Trabzonspor.

The Egypt full-back's loan deal with Trabzon was due to end on May 15th but the Turkish side took up their option to buy him from Ismaili.

Trabzon will pay Ismaili $900,000 to sign Moawad permanently. However, the player's Turkish spell will be probably cut short by Ahli's intervention.

"I signed a three-year deal with Trabzon, but I may return to Egypt soon if I find it hard to adapt to life in Turkey," Moawad told Modern Sport.

The 28-year-old refused to disclose the Egyptian club he may join in the near future but it was quite clear that he referred to Ahli.

Fierce Rivalry

Ahli have made no secret of their desire to lure Moawad to Cairo. They were on the verge of doing so last January.

Former Ismaili chairman Yehia Al-Koumi agreed to offload Moawad but heavy protests from the Dervishes' fans led to the deal being cancelled.

Ismaili do not enjoy the best of relationships with Ahli because they believe the Red Devils always try to deprive them of their prized assets.

That's why Moawad opted for an indirect route to the Egyptian champions.

"Moawad's contract with Trabzon includes a clause that allows him to depart and return to Egypt anytime he wants," the player's agent Tamer Al-Nahhas revealed.

"In this case, he will have to pay back the money he received from Trabzon."
