Zamalek coach Ruud Krol revealed on Saturday that he will leave the Cairo giants at the end of the season due to family reasons.

"Krol will not continue beyond this season," read a statement carried by Zamalek's official website.

"The Dutchman told chairman Mamdouh Abbas that he wouldn’t be able to carry on due to family reasons."

Recent reports suggested that Zamalek would not renew Krol's contract regardless of the Egyptian Cup final outcome.

The Egyptian Cup is Zamalek's last chance to pick up their first piece of silverware since winning the league title in the 2003/2004 season.

Zamalek face one-time cup winners ENPPI on May 25th at Cairo International Stadium.

Short Spell

Krol, who had a previous spell with Zamalek in the mid-1990s, took charge of the team in the summer following the sudden resignation of Frenchman Henri Michel.

Zamalek produced fine results in the early stages of the season but the team suffered a dip in form following their 1-0 defeat to arch-rivals Ahli in September 2007.

The men in white lost hopes of competing for the league title but managed to reach the Egyptian Cup final.

The majority of Zamalek fans were never satisfied with Krol's work during the course of the season.
